Create You was founded in 2019, stemming from a long held and widely practised belief from our founder, Leila Browning, of art as therapy.
She says, “Creating art relieves stress, encourages creative thinking, increases brain function by using problem solving skills and imparts other mental health benefits. Creating art provides a distraction, giving your brain a break from your usual thoughts, and you may find yourself in what’s known as ‘the zone’ or a state of ‘flow’. “
During recent times of worry and lockdown, this has never been more relevant. We have several groups running on Facebook click here full of members using art as an escape.
And here’s the thing – you don’t have to have any skills or talents whatsoever!! Not a jot! Even if it’s your very first time putting pencil to paper or brush to canvas, it really, really doesn’t matter, it’s all about enjoying the process.
